1953 Jaguar XK 120 OTS
After WW II, Sir Winston Churchill guided the British workforce with the words of "Export or Die!" Our American G.I.s found the little English Motorcars both nimble and quick compared to their American counterparts and, after the war, started to bring them home. Faced with a huge demand from the American public, Jaguar, as well as many other English automobile companies, exported some 85% of their total production to the United States!
The new Jaguar was revolutionary in its design. Originally drawn to clothe their new 3.4 liter 6 cylinder engine for the London Earl's Court Motorcar Show of October 1948, the body design was referred to by many as "voluptuous" and was an instant success! Many of these cars were seen on American college campuses of the fifties and their owners were regarded as the "privileged few". The Jaguar XK 120 roadster (capable of 120 MPH) was followed by the XK 140 and XK 150. All three were also available as a drop head (convertible) or a fixed head coupe. With many racing successes, the XK Series was a strong seller in the American market through the fifties until the release of the Jaguar XKE in 1961...Another Legend.
This XK 120 OTS (open two-seater) is owned by a local surgeon and has been recently restored to it's original condition at Ragtops 8 Roadsters.
