"Chevrolet has dropped the new Corvette's small-block V8 into the SSR retro-roadster for 2005. The 6.0-liter LS2 V8 puts out 390-horses and 405 pound-feet of torque, replacing last year's 300-horse 5.3 liter truck engine. It's mated to a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Other upgrades for 2005 include dual exhaust, returned sterring, gas hood struts and a new engine cover. The retractable hardtop is operable by the push of a button and stacks neatly behind the cab. Auxiliary gauge and body color packages, runningboards and a windbreak are also new options. Also enhancing ride and handling are befitting a sports roadster are five-spoke allow sport wheels and performance tires - 19-inch up front and 20-inch at the rear."
- quoted from the Philadelphia Auto Show 2005 Buyer's Guide

I saw one of these as I walked past a dealership last spring. I stopped to check it out since I was looking for a new car and thought that this little truck looked pretty hot. The $40k price tag made me literally jump back. "Forty for that funky pickup?!?" I thought to myself. It makes more sense seeing the specs listed here, but why not just get a sports car? Maybe this is one of those things I just won't 'get'.
