"The new 3 Series will enter the market in the summer of 2005 with a choice of two in-line 6-cylinder engines. The engine is the first to use magnesium, which, compared to aluminum, is 30 percent lighter. The engine is also the first to use BMW VALVETRONIC, a system that improves fuel efficiency. The 3 Series is the latest BMW to feature a start button. Is it the first in its class to offer benefits of BMW's unique Active Steering. Whenever the driver applies the brakes hard on surfaces with varying friction, such as snow or ice, Active Steering will help stabilize the vehicle more quickly. The interior is more spacious and onboard navigation will be available. The system will include BMW's iDrive control system for convenient operation. The optional Comfort Access makes the ignition key a thing of the past."
